Independent P&A Assessment of BP Norway's Hod Well Portfolio

RESL performed an independent well plugging and abandonment review of BP Norway's wells at the Valhall Hod field.
The scope of work included an assessment of the abandonment methodologies required to comply with both local regulations and the client’s internal standards for well abandonment. RESL performed well engineering and AACE Class 4 cost estimation for all 8 producing wells at Hod as Requirement for FAS 143 compliance based on an outline abandonment methodology and cost estimates for wells in compliance with NORSOK D-010, plus an alternative lower cost approach. The duration of the study was 6 months and the work was completed in 2014.
Hod is an oil field 13 kilometres south of the Valhall field in the southern part of the Norwegian sector in the North Sea. The water depth is 72 metres. The field is developed with an unmanned production facility, remotely controlled from Valhall. Production started in 1990. The field consists of three structures: Hod Vest, Hod Øst and Hod Sadel. The field is produced by pressure depletion. Gas lift has been used in some wells to increase production.
